SPRINGFIELD — An officer was hurt after being hit by an ATV in Springfield on Wednesday, according to Springfield Chief of Police Allison Elliott.

The officer was “investigating a matter” in the 1300 block of North Belmont Avenue around 6:10 p.m. when they were struck.

They were transported to the hospital, but have since been released, according to Elliott.
The person driving the ATV left the scene. It’s unclear if they have been taken into custody at this time.
“These calls are always very serious and taken very seriously. Obviously, we understand this is a very dangerous situation, and we wanna make sure we’re very thorough and very diligent in our operations and our investigation,” Elliott said.
