GRANT COUNTY, Indiana — A police K9 that was missing for almost a month has been found safe.

On July 31, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana shared on social media that their man-trailing Bloodhound K9 Ellie Mae had gone missing.

The sheriff’s office said that Ellie Mae was not trained in apprehension or aggression and was not trained around gunfire or similar explosive sounds, and they believed that is why she became frightened and ran off.
On August 22, the sheriff’s office shared that Ellie Mae had been found after almost a month.
“After countless hours of searching—walking fields and wooded areas, deploying drones, following up on sightings and leads, checking properties, and refusing to give up—our beloved Ellie Mae is finally home!” the sheriff’s office said on social media.
The sheriff’s office thanked everyone who helped search or provided information to help bring Ellie Mae home.
