As reported on News Center 7 at 11, over 20,000 people voted early in Miami County. Almost 16,000 voted in-person.

The polls for early in-person voting closed at 5 p.m.

The next chance to vote is Election Day, Nov. 3.

Many voters told our news crew that they are excited to make their voices heard. Anthony Tracy said that voting is the most important thing to do.

“I’m trying to explain to her right now how it’s so important because her history, his history is on their futures, on the line,” said Anthony Tracy.

He was holding his five-month-old son.

Tracy told Petrosky that he would teach his son the same thing he teaches his daughter.

Havin Montague and her friend Logan Daugherty repped Ohio voting stickers after spending their day at the polls. The pair made it a road trip from Bluffton University.

“It was really important for us to make this trip in, and vote in this election,” said Daugherty.

After a mix-up with their absentee ballots, Sunday was the only day they could make the trip to vote.

“I was like, I have to go and vote. I can’t go Tuesday, so I was like, this is the only day I can go,” said Montague.

This year’s mid-term election is expected to have a record turnout with the Ohio Senate and Gubernatorial races gaining national attention.

“I think that this is probably one of the most important elections of the century,” said Daugherty.

Polls are open for in-person voting on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
